human notions. The results will always be better if our hearts are pure and free from any notion. |

In a casual conversation, without even trying, the topic can easily be led to the subject of Falun Gong.
To keep the conversation "light", talk about the freedom of belief and that no one should control a person's
right to believe in whatever he feels like believing in. This is an easy topic for everyone to agree upon.
Then tell them the current situation in China where people's freedom of belief is being violated by the
government on a daily basis. Clarify the truth using examples. Master mentioned in Teaching and Explaining
the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference:
"But they are able to understand things like what humankind, today's people,
call 'human rights' being squashed and freedom of belief being squashed.
So when you're clarifying the facts your words should revolve around those topics,
and people will be able to understand and they'll be supportive."

Be careful not to openly criticize the Communist Party, as many Chinese will take this as an attack against them... and their country. Your words may even cause the other person
to resist everything you say from that point forward. Let them come to their own conclusions
about the Chinese government, in their own heart; in their own mind; and in their own time.
You can never force another person to agree with you. Remember, your goal is not to have them
agree with you at all. Rather, it is to invite doubt to creep into their mind about the steadfast
beliefs they have held about Falun Gong and their own government. Only when you display the compassion,
righteous thoughts, and righteous behavior of a practitioner can your words have such an effect on a
person's attitude towards Dafa. Also, you can not expect to thaw a block of ice with one pass over
a burning match. People need the space to draw their own conclusions from your words. If you have an
attachment to seeking results, the other person may agree with you on the surface (in order to not
come across as 'disagreeable'), but in their heart they have not been moved by your compassion one
little bit. Your attachment to results can never move a person closer to the truth… only compassion can. |

Don't let clarifying the truth to people become a formality. Pay close attention to whether the
person truly understood the facts you presented to him and whether the truth has inspired the
compassionate side within him. You should always have a strong sense of responsibility toward the
person to whom you are clarifying the truth to. |
|
Some everyday people may say Falun Gong is involved in politics. If they do say that to you, ask them to give you some examples. Some people may say that we are against the Chinese government because we oppose what the Party is doing to Falun Gong practitioners. Let these people know that disapproving of and exposing the Party's use of torture and murder is not opposing the Chinese government. Rather, it is opposing the injustice that that the government inflicts upon innocent men, women, and children. |

Some will say that Falun Gong is wrecking the reputation of China by revealing the
facts of the persecution all around the globe. Tell them that Falun Gong would not be revealing the
facts of the persecution all around the globe if the Party did not persecute and spread lies and
slander Falun Gong all around the globe. How can Falun Gong be blamed for clarifying the facts and
exposing the Party's lies? If the Party did not spread the lies it did, what would Falun Gong have to
expose? Who can blame Falun Gong for speaking out against the torture and murder of innocent people?
Who can blame Falun Gong for wanting others to know the truth behind the Party's lies? Also, how can
someone expect a Falun Gong practitioner to stand by and allow the Chinese Media to slander Falun Gong
and Master Li when they know full well that what the media is spreading are all lies? The reputation
of China is not in Falun Gong's hands, but in the hands of those who spread lies and deceit throughout
the world about Falun Gong. |

If things start getting tense in your chat session, re-examine your own state of mind and search within yourself to see what attachment you're holding onto. |
|
Sometimes it is better to clarify the truth by playing the role of a bystander because Chinese
chat friends may have some psychological distance from Falun Gong practitioners. |

When chat friends observe your behavior and feel that you are like everyone else, they will be
willing to chat with you and this in itself already has the effect of clarifying the truth. However,
some people are very stubborn and have some animosity towards Falun Gong. If that is the case,
talk to them about how kindness is rewarded and evil is punished. |

It appears that most of the Chinese people are very kind. Inspiring their kindness can help
them to have an opportunity in the future. They all have different characteristics. By guiding
them according to their characteristics, we could help more people to understand us. To clarify
the truth is not to just speak, but to help others understand what they hear. |

Try to let go of as many assumptions as you can when clarifying the truth. |

Do not be afraid that you type slowly. Do not fear that you will not be able to express
yourself clearly. As long as you have the heart to rescue sentient beings, you are capable of
doing what needs to be done. |

Do not try to get directly into the subject of clarifying the truth. Do not rush things if
you want to clarify the truth in depth and in detail. Let things happen naturally. |

Put your righteous beliefs into your small talk so that everyday people in the chat room can
feel that you are righteous. Then look for an opportunity to talk about Dafa.
You will find that while you are chatting with them the subject of Falun Gong will come
up naturally. |

Just like announcing an ordinary piece of news, you can say: "Jiang Zemin is being sued overseas for genocide and other crimes, did you know that? The whole world is starting to become aware of it." However, only tell them this piece of news after you have clarified the truth to them for a while. If you say it in the beginning, they may believe that you are trying to intentionally reveal some bad things. In general, when you follow the natural course of events, without pursuit in your heart, you will find that many opportunities will present themselves in order for you to clarify the truth calmly. |

Try to be friends with the person you are talking to and not try to convince them right
away about anything. Talk with them as a friend and add your thoughts to the conversation to help
them to eliminate their doubts. They will most assuredly ask you questions when they are not sure
about something, thus, inviting a two-way conversation to occur. |

Do not come across like only practitioners are good people and people who do not learn Falun
Gong must be bad people. |

overlooking their others' virtues. Even if we normally behave well as practitioners, other people wouldn't
notice it. However, when we don't do well, others immediately latch onto it.
As practitioners, we must set high standards for ourselves and display calmness,
compassion, tolerance, open-mindedness, and rationality. |

When clarifying the truth to strangers, it's difficult to control the environment as well
as when the opportunity might arise to introduce the subject of Falun Gong. When clarifying the
truth to more than one person at a time, it's best to speak as a non-practitioner, so they do not
grow cautious of you. It's therefore easier to approach them. |

When you clarify the truth show people the wonders of Dafa practitioners through our noble behavior.
If their mind has been filled with thoughts against Dafa, after having witnessed how good we are,
they become suspicious of the lies and propaganda and it's then easier to clarify the true
situation to them. |

"Grasping the opportunity" means finding the appropriate time to begin truth clarification.
In fact, it is not difficult to do if we use wisdom. If you immediately start clarifying the truth
when meeting people, they might think you are crazy. |

We must control the extent of the information and clarify the truth without going too far.
Some practitioners keep on talking for a long time to clarify the truth, as if they want to let
the person know about the truth all at once, not considering the person's feelings and mindset.
It's good to cherish that person, but it would have the opposite effect if we don't control it well.
The person might even think, "See, Falun Gong practitioners have nothing else to say other than this..."
Therefore, quality is more important than quantity in truth clarification, even if we only said a
little that touches a person. When we finish clarifying a bit of the truth and the person has
understood it and does not ask questions, it might be good to switch topics to prevent creating
psychological barriers in him/her. |

Uphold Dafa's dignity during truth clarification. By clarifying the truth to people, we are
being benevolent to them and offering them salvation by awakening their conscience and kind thoughts,
so these people will have an opportunity to choose their own future. We are not begging them to
acknowledge Dafa. We as Dafa practitioners must therefore display open-mindedness and tolerance.
As Dafa practitioners, we also must uphold Dafa's reverence. When confronted with provocation and
unfriendly questions resulting from degenerate notions, we must point it out in a dignified manner
and correct it. When we respond like this, they may be unhappy at the time, but will later realize
their lack of virtue as well as Dafa's dignity and sacredness. |

For those who show disrespect to Dafa, you can say: "If I was wrong, please tell me.
But please be respectful to others in the chat room as well as to yourself. Nevertheless,
you should respect Dafa with the principles of Truth, Compassion, and Tolerance."
If this disrespect is witnessed by the whole chat room, it is best to invite that person to a
one-on-one chat. You will have a better chance of turning their attitude around in private than in
public, for the most part. At the same time, you also need to look at your own behavior.
The power of kindness alone can touch people's heart. Since many people only look at our behavior,
poor behavior on our part may hinder them from attaining Dafa. Doing things this way, is
enlightening to an even deeper understanding of "Truth, Compassion, Tolerance." |

Use different methods with different people. We must fully consider people's education level,
ability to accept new ideas, their job and interests, and other possibilities that may influence
their perceptions. |

Truth clarification is no easy matter. It's always easier said than done, and the process of
reducing the gap between words and actions is one of the processes of solid cultivation. |

Chatting online can also be a test in cultivation. Can we maintain our calmness when people curse?
While we maintain our serenity we still have to send forth righteous thoughts to purify their minds
and rectify all that is not right. |

You will find that although some people have hatred in their hearts towards Dafa, when you tell
them the truth, some people will realize it immediately and their thoughts will become righteous. |

A compassionate heart is most important in clarifying the truth. |

Clarifying the truth is a process of upgrading our understanding of the Fa. Using our understanding
of the Fa in the human world is showing compassion to the people. |

Our words and behavior must be better than even people's role models. We are cultivators, so our
words and behavior directly impact Dafa's image. |

Abandon human notions and break through oneself: In chat rooms, you will meet police, Internet
police, "610" Office personnel, spies, former practitioners who deviated from Dafa, and other people
who are controlled by evil concepts. In this messy environment, at the beginning, you might feel
justified in ignoring those unreasonable people or even have bitterness towards them. But, we should
not to be like them and we cannot take them as enemies. Try to use your kindness to override your
negative feelings towards those with evil intentions. We need to remove all of our hidden attachments. |
|
Enlarge our mind's capacity and be compassionate to all sentient beings: This is a great
cultivation experience, because being attacked provides a good opportunity to raise one's xinxing.
We must keep our minds calm, and be able to smile while being cursed at. Remember that as long as
they continue to talk to us, we have an opportunity to help them. Don't give up until they know the
truth or don't respond anymore. |
|
Concentrating on Fa study will increase our confidence. Our determination in clarifying the truth
will help us detach from our emotions. |
|
Every minute and every second we are alive we should make a point of making good use of our time
to clarify the truth. This precious historical mission that we all are on will not last forever.
If we do what a Dafa disciple should do, we will not have to live with the burden of regret.
